A very difficult period over the pandemic led to several grantees being unable to start or complete their trips and the Get Exploring Trust largely paused our activities. However, some opportunities are too good to miss and the team were very happy to support the Urban Adventure Base and their plans for local adventures for young people from Tower Hamlets.

Urban Adventure base - cornwall

In the midst of a global pandemic, we were thrilled to link up with Finisterre founder Tom Kay to provide a first time experience for young adults from Tower Hamlets, many of whom had never left London before. Read more about it in their post trip report here and on Finisterre’s Blog here.

I really enjoyed the trip to Cornwall because I was able to see some amazing sights that I had never seen before, I realised the power of nature and I was pushed to things I didn’t know I could do!

Urban Adventure base - Isle of white

Another fantastic opportunity to partner with the Urban Adventure Base team for an adventure to the Isle of White. You do not have to go far afield to find a challenge! You can read their post trip report here to see what an impact the trip had on the participants.

Having spoken to him on the first day I heard in his voice how confident he spoke about everything, especially not knowing many of the group. It shows going on these kinds of trips gives a child the upper hand and it just makes them feel so independent. Since coming home I’ve seen such a change in him, thank you so much to all involved.
