KAYAKING FROM GRENADA TO MIAMI

previous expeditions:

After coming across the idea for this expedition of our own accord, we have since found out about, and been inspired by, the previous successful expeditions that have kayaked our route.

1. john dowd, 1978

In 1977-78 sea kayaking legend John Dowd led an expedition from Trinidad and Tobago to Florida, of which he said:

“The Caribbean trip took eight months. It was far and away the most serious kayak trip I have done due to the open crossings, strong currents and strong winds”.

2. Henry brothers, 2014

In 2013-14 Russell and Graham Henry kayaked the 6,500km from the mouth of the Amazon, Brazil to Juno Beach, Florida. They have been generous in their advice to us for our expedition and remain an inspiration to us as we set out for our turn in crossing the Caribbean.

Check out their old expedition blog here.

Will and George will cover the 2000 miles completely unsupported, relying on our own abilities and equipment to read weather systems, tides and currents and continue going in the right direction !
